Conspiracy Theories and Undisputed Crimes

It’s fascinating to me that many in the libertarian/voluntaryist movement become obsessed with conspiracy theories. I’m talking, of course, about the 9/11 truth movement, the JFK assassination, FDR’s foreknowledge of Pearl Harbor, and so on. While everyone loves a mystery, and these topics are interesting in their own rights, I don’t think the liberty movement is winning any converts by focusing on such plots. In fact, they may be hurting the cause by causing others to see them as tin-foil hat wearing kooks.
I submit that there are plenty of undisputed crimes committed by the State that any State supporter must reconcile within his own sense of ethics and morality. There are so many, I don’t know where to begin… Currently, drone missile strikes and presidential assassinations are a hot topic, as is the bombing of the Libyan embassy. What about Obama’s wars in Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and Syria? What about Bush’s invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan? Let’s instead discuss Lincoln’s invasion of the southern states, or Jackson’s genocide of the Native American population, or FDR’s sending Japanese Americans into concentration camps. Let’s talk about the US government siding with the murderous USSR during WWII while funding the Nazis. Let’s discuss the fugitive slave laws, Jim Crow laws, and forced segregation. Let’s talk about Truman dropping two atomic bombs on civilians. It would be hard to find anyone, Democrat, Republican, or independent, who denies all (if any) of these topics in American history, so why is the liberty movement wasting precious time on conspiracies?

Hiroshima after the US dropped the atomic bomb. If coldly nuking innocent civilians isn’t evil, then evil does not exist.
A Disclaimer About My Politics
Thanks for reading this post, I hope I challenged you in some way. Agree with me? That’s cool. Disagree? Even better. I’m just a random guy on the internet, voicing his opinion (at the time of writing this blog post – check the date; opinions change as more facts and experience are gathered). But imagine if I had the political power and will to force you to agree with me! That would be terrible, and that’s the point of voluntarism and non-aggression. You should not be forced to agree with me. Please extend me the same courtesy.
