Keep from Caesar what is yours.
Hey readers, I finally got internet in my apartment so I’m going to try my best to keep up with my blog. And yes, today I want to talk about a political issue. I just filed my taxes yesterday for the feds and three states. (Since I made money in three states last year, I had to file with each of them. USA! USA!) I’m getting a refund but I’m not happy. Many taxpayers look at the refund as free money from the government. It isn’t. It’s money you earned and the government took too much of it. They used it, interest free, for up to 16 months to fund God knows what. I am not happy because I see how much was taken from my paychecks, before I ever got a chance to use it the way I see fit, to fund wars I don’t support and to fund a corrupt and failing welfare system I don’t support. With the money the federal and three state governments took from me, I could pay off my credit card debt and much of my student loans. This would benefit me personally, but also America at large as I would use the money I am now making to purchase goods and services and help the economy instead of sending money to pay off debts. And multiply this 300 million times (or however many people pay income taxes… probably not even close to this, but I digress.)
Income tax is probably one of the most damaging things that government does to its citizens. It is stealing. (The power to tax is the power to destroy.) The government is claiming first rights to the fruits of your labor. For a great example of how income taxes destroy lives, take a look at the late great boxer, Joe Louis. Click here for an eloquent summation of how the IRS destroyed him. In a nutshell, Joe Louis gave much of his boxing earnings to various charitable foundations. He did not pay income tax on several large checks because he never saw the money. The wolves at the IRS came after him to pay taxes, fines and interest on money he earned but never used until the day he died. Why didn’t Joe Louis have the right to use his money as he saw fit?
If you want to get angered further, watch this stunning documentary “America: Freedom to Fascism”. It starts out talking about income taxes and the IRS but delves further. Keep in mind this video is 111 minutes long.
When tested by the pharisees about taxes, Jesus responded “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” That is where the title of this post came from. Personally, I would say to try to keep from Caesar what is yours, as much as you can. The federal government only exists because we allow it to. There are too many people sucking off the government’s teat, and that will ultimately destroy us. I dream of a day when all citizens refuse to vote, as voting implies your consent to be ruled. I dream of a day when all citizens refuse to give up the first fruits of their labors. When all government employees quit their jobs. When all soldiers lay down their guns and say “no more.” Yes, I am a dreamer, but I’m not the only one (thanks John)…
