Old Music Tuesdays: Chino Moreno mainstream work (Chino 3 of 3)
This edition of Old Music Tuesday wraps up my Chino Moreno playlist tribute series. Today, I’ve provided a playlist of some of my favorite tracks from deftones, Team Sleep, Palms, and ††† (Crosses). It was hard to keep the list manageable, because I honestly love all of their music.
I’ve been a deftones fan since 1999, and have been fortunate enough to see them several times live, and have been able to see them evolve as a band. I tried to give a good representation of their work, from the old nu-metal influenced stuff, to the heaviest metal, to the dreamy soundscapes and trip hop.
I’ve also been able to see Chino Moreno evolve as a vocalist and as a musician. There are two reasons a musician usually starts a side project: Either he has a back catalog full of inferior unused music he wants to release, or he wants to go a different musical direction. Luckily, Chino’s side projects reflect the latter, and I think Team Sleep, Palms, and ††† (Crosses) are all fantastic projects worth giving a listen. I hope you enjoy these tracks as much as I do.
