Old Music Tuesdays: Tomahawk “Red Fox”
Regular visitors to my site, particularly my Old Music Tuesdays series, will know about my undying love for Mike Patton’s work. For those of you who don’t know him, you may recognize him as the vocalist of Faith No More, the band from the 1980s responsible for the hit song Epic. Patton is a workaholic and has been steadily releasing music (in several genres) since the mid 1980s. It’s not always to my taste, but it’s always well-crafted and interesting.
Today, I wanted to share a fan video for one of his many musical projects, Tomahawk. Usually, fan videos are pretty lame and/or awful. This one is special, though. It’s Flash animation and I think it really captures the mood and content of the song. The pacing is also pretty tight and the artwork is phenomenal. The mood of both the video and the song is that of a Native American spirit quest. It’s easier if you just watch it, so I’ve embedded it below.
