Rated Sound Website Champions New British Hard Rock Music for 2017

Music website Rated Sound has included three new British hard rock bands in their list of the best new music artists to watch in 2017. This represents the healthy British rock and metal scene and a resurgence in popularity of the genre. Thirty-five years after the “new wave of British heavy metal” (NWOBM), could this be the “new new wave of Britsh heavy metal”?
The new British rock acts on the list are: Wings of Pegasus, Kill It and Empyre. Fil Henley is the main man behind Wings of Pegasus. He did just about everything on the rocking “Persistence” album and even taught himself how to produce! This band probably bears the closest resemblance to NWOBM but there is also traces of classic rock such as Aerosmith to the band.
Kill It are British-based but also include members from Argentina, Hungary, and Israel. The music is powerful but very slick and expertly performed. Hardly surprising when you consider that some of the band were touring members of Judas Priest.
Empyre complete the trio of emerging British hard rock bands to make Rated Sound’s best new music list for 2017. Killer riffs sprinkled with moments of subtlety mark their two EPs released to date. Watch out for this talented bunch in 2017.
It’s not just new British metal that make the Rated Sound list for 2017. American rock is represented by the mighty Thirteen who impressed with their powerful “Volume 1” release. Led by the charismatic Dan Mahangar, Thirteen take classic Black Sabbath-style riffs and bring the music right up to date.
The rock theme is continued with two female-fronted power-punk bands. Dream State from Wales and Nottingham’s As December Falls are influenced by LA punk bands such as Green Day. Both have achieved a healthy following in their short careers to date and are two great up-and-coming bands.
Elsewhere on the list of artists to watch in 2017, acoustic Indie is represented by Kneel, Some Kind of Illness and Ben Myers. Peacock Affect present dark electronic music with confessional and often disturbing themes. While Chris Tavener makes funny but striking songs with a real lyrical bite.
Also on the list are two contrasting artists; Shenna and Tacoma Narrows. Shenna is a potential pop megastar. Her slick new album “Made of Gold” has an impeccable production and is packed with chart-friendly pop nuggets. Tacoma Narrows are a folk band from the US who play punk infused music with real passion.
Interestingly, the list of new musical artists includes Alien Skin. This is the name George Pappas of Real Life fame uses to make music. Undoubtedly, his excellent “European Electronic Cinema” album deserves a wider audience.
