The Wire: To Burn or Not to Burn?

As the totalitarian Left demands that Gone With the Wind and COPS be put down the memory hole, I had a question: Where did the book burners land on The Wire? For those who don’t know, The Wire is an HBO drama that chronicles life in Baltimore surrounding the lives of poor black people in the ghetto, drug dealers, police, politicians, teachers, reporters, stevedores, and more. (Watch it, it’s fantastic.) It’s a study of institutions and how they trap people within them. It features poignant and thoughtful commentary on race, corruption, and societal structure, but also has (gasp) positive portrayals of several police officers. So down the memory hole or no?
I’m being snarky, to be sure, but this is a perfect example of why we shouldn’t try to censor history or art. Everything is a product of its time, and if we pretend it didn’t exist, not only can we not learn from it, but we’ll be missing out on a lot of amazing creative work.
We should not be kowtowing to these whiny authoritarians, for any reason.
I made a new piece to “celebrate” the CHAZ in Seattle. It’s only been a couple days for this communist experiment and they already have a warlord, are extorting businesses, and are begging for food. That literally ALWAYS happens when communism is tried. Grab a tee, button, sticker, etc. and thanks for your support!

A Disclaimer About My Politics
Thanks for reading this post, I hope I challenged you in some way. Agree with me? That’s cool. Disagree? Even better. I’m just a random guy on the internet, voicing his opinion (at the time of writing this blog post – check the date; opinions change as more facts and experience are gathered). But imagine if I had the political power and will to force you to agree with me! That would be terrible, and that’s the point of voluntarism and non-aggression. You should not be forced to agree with me. Please extend me the same courtesy.“The word ‘politics’ is derived from the word ‘poly’ meaning ‘many’, and the word ‘ticks’ meaning ‘blood sucking parasites’.” -Larry Hardiman
